A #ThrowbackThursday post for all the Coronation Street fans out there! Back in July 1997, four of Wetherfield’s best loved characters, Mike Baldwin, Curly Watts, Fred Elliott and Ashley Peacock, turned up at Shrigley for a match on our golf course All didn’t go to plan for Fred though as he managed to not only lose a £50 bet to Mike & Curly, but also break his leg after falling down a steep bank, trying to retrieve his putter that he had thrown there in a fit of pique! Discovered the following morning by a woman walking her dog, he was strechered away by paramedics, promising the dog a juicy bone from his butchers shop whenever required! The slope to the left of our 16th is still there, but the fallen tree, long gone. Maybe a blue plaque is required to mark the spot? #coronationstreet #shrigleyhall #golf
